An immersive VR safety training experience designed to simulate hazardous construction site scenarios in a realistic virtual environment. The project focused on increasing occupational safety awareness through interactive training workflows and high-immersion risk simulations.
Overview
This VR experience was developed to educate users on workplace safety in construction environments by placing them directly inside realistic hazardous situations.
The application recreated common construction site dangers in a controlled virtual environment, allowing users to:
- Experience high-risk scenarios safely
- Understand the consequences of unsafe behavior
- Improve hazard awareness and reaction training
- Learn preventive safety measures through interaction-driven workflows
The experience emphasized immersion and realism to create stronger emotional impact and improve training effectiveness compared to traditional learning methods.

Technical Break Down
Contributions
- Collaborated with another Senior Technical Consultant to discuss best practices for improving the flexibility and scalability of the current VRPE architecture
- Shared updates and recommendations on XR best practices across the development team to support consistent technical standards
- Supported 3D Technical Artists and 3D Designers through tool automation workflows to improve efficiency and iteration speed
- Mentored and supported a junior developer with implementation guidance and technical problem-solving
- Managed and communicated retrospective discussions, helping identify improvements in workflows, collaboration, and delivery processes
Designed and implemented interactive training workflows that guided users through various safety-critical scenarios.
This included:
- Structuring scenario progression and event sequencing
- Designing user interaction logic for safety procedures
- Building trigger-based learning moments and hazard simulations
- Ensuring workflows remained intuitive and immersive in VR
The goal was to create experiences that felt realistic while still maintaining clear educational objectives.
Worked on implementing and refining realistic construction-site hazard scenarios, including:
- Unsecured work areas
- Visibility-restricted environments
- Unsafe movement zones
- Environmental danger awareness systems
These situations were designed to demonstrate how quickly accidents can occur when safety protocols are ignored.
Optimized and extended the VR hand coaching system to improve usability and flexibility during training interactions.
Responsibilities included:
- Improving responsiveness of hand guidance interactions
- Making the coaching system more modular and reusable across scenarios
- Refining interaction feedback for better user understanding
- Improving workflow integration with VR interactions and hand tracking systems
This helped create a smoother onboarding experience for users unfamiliar with VR interaction mechanics.
Contributed to improving immersion and interaction quality within the VR environment by focusing on:
- Intuitive object interactions
- Environmental responsiveness
- User comfort and movement flow
- Interaction clarity during high-stress scenarios
Special attention was given to maintaining immersion while still communicating safety-critical information clearly.
System Design
The project aimed to combine:
- Realistic hazard simulation
- Immersive VR interaction
- Guided educational workflows
- Behavioral learning through consequence-based experiences
The experience was designed not just as a simulation, but as a practical safety-awareness training tool capable of improving real-world hazard recognition.
